The German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety organises the 11th Federal Congress on National Urban Development Policy from 12 to 14 June 2017 in Hamburg. The EUKN will present its study "Ten Years after the Leipzig Charter" at the Congress.

As every years, also in 2017, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety invites stakeholders and the public to the Federal Congress on National Urban Development Policy. This year’s edition centres around the tenth anniversary of the Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities.

The Leipzig Charter, adopted under the German Council Presidency in 2007, is one of the key documents on integrated urban development in Europe. The Federal Congress invites experts and representatives from public institutions, planning, business and civil society to take stock. As a platform for exchange on the key issues and challenges for the future of integrated urban development, its goal is to explore both the progress and new approaches to sustainable and integrated urban development in Europe.

On 13 June, the EUKN will present the key findings of its study "Ten Years after the Leipzig Charter". This study, available in three languages (German, English and French), analyses and assesses the state of integrated urban development in Europe by investigating urban policies in 35 European countries and five countries outside of Europe. It thus contributes to the reflection upon the future of integrated urban development in Europe. The study will be available online as of 13 June.
