Urban Highlight

As the summer approaches, many urbanists, researchers and policy makers are going on a well-deserved summer break. However, there is still plenty of activity in the coming weeks. Habitat III is approaching its next milestone with the Surabaya PrepCom3, which will take place from the 25th until the 27th of July. Next week will also mark a significant event with the “Cities for Tomorrow” conference, 18 and 19 July in New York City.

The EUKN Secretariat is preparing for the second half of 2016 which will see the continuation of the Leipzig Charter Research and the preparations for a seminar and two policy labs (more information will follow soon). Also, expect our newsletter later this week (16th of July). Not a subscriber to our newsletter yet? Other Urban Highlights

The Pact of Amsterdam has been signed on May 30th and the Dutch EU presidency has come to an end. We at the EUKN would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Dutch Presidency and the remarkable achievement that is the Urban Agenda for the EU. On July 1st, Slovakia took over the baton of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. EUKN wishes the Slovakian Presidency a highly productive and successful term in office.

The activities surrounding the implementation of the Urban Agenda for the EU will continue during the Slovakian presidency. The EUKN will also continue to support the Agenda and the partnerships for the Urban Agenda of the EU. For more information, visit the Urban Agenda for the EU website: http://urbanagendaforthe.eu/
