Cypriot EU Presidency



From 1 July to 31 December 2012, Cyprus holds the six-month rotating Presidency of the European Union. This is the first EU presidency for Cyprus, which joined the EU in 2004 and became a euro zone member in 2008. Cyprus is in close coordination with the EU Presidency of Poland (July-December 2011) and Denmark (January-June 2012). Cyprus works Τowards a Better Europe meaning a more effective Europe, contributing to growth and job creation. 



Within the framework of the Cypriot EU Presidency and on behalf of the Ministry of Interior, Department of Town Planning and Housing, the EUKN published a discussion paper "Immigrant integration in European cities". Migration and integration are key issues on local, national and EU agendas. Authorities responsible for urban policies have to address the opportunities and challenges of migration and integration at local level. EU cooperation and co-ordination within the fields of migration, integration and urban development may support authorities in dealing with such issues. Read more.
