From July 1 to 31 December 2017, Estonia holds the six-month rotating Presidency of the European Union. Estonia is in close coordination with the Trio EU Presidencis of Bulgaria (January-June 2018) and Austria (July-December 2018). Unsurprisingly, Estonia, which has engaged in an unprecedented embrace of technology to transform its economy and government, is focused on the Digital Single Market legislative files. Estonia aims to embrace technological change and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by it. Regarding digital security the focus of the three presidencies would be on improving the functionalities and the interoperability of existing and new large-scale IT systems. Another field of work is the fight against terrorism and the prevention of radicalism and violent extremism.
