Italian EU Presidency



From 1 July to 31 December 2014, Italy holds the six-month rotating Presidency of the European Union. The three concerns of the Italian Presidency are the economic downturn, the security of Europe’s borders and the relations with EU’s neighbours and overseas partners. During its six-month Presidency, the Italian Government will also focus of the reform of EU institutions, Euromediterranean policy, stabilisation of the Balkans and the Lisbon process. Moreover, the Italian Presidency is interested in promoting EU relations with China and Russia through a newly created permanent committee.
