Contemporary territorial transformations and city building processes: what benchmarks for urban planning education? 14th December 2012, Montpellier (France)

Organized by the National School of Architecture of Montpellier (ENSAM), this study day is part of the first edition of the Year of architecture in Languedoc-Roussillon.

The objectives of this day are twofold: on the one hand, stimulating reflection on situations impacting and/or characterizing the regional territory as well as sharing it, on the other hand, to examine the requirements for masters' degrees in urban planning.

Three conferences will take place and lay general framework for reflection. They aim to lay the groundwork for a prospective questioning the future of territories as well as practices inherent to territorial planning and development.

The afternoon will be devoted to the deepening of issues discussed at the morning conferences in the form of three workshops:

  • Workshop 1: interconnections and metropolitan dynamics.
  • Workshop 2: non-metropolitan urban dynamics.
  • Workshop 3: peri-urban and urban areas: urban forms and lifestyles.
