EUKN at Habitat III Conference in Quito
Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development to take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 to 20 October 2016. The European Urban Knowledge Network (EUKN) will host an official side event during the conference and will take part in several supporting programme events.
The event "Building Bridges between the EU and the Global Urban Agenda: an Interregional Debate on New Urban Governance" will be held in the New Urban Agenda and the Urban Agenda for the EU. The debate is set up as a dialogue between Europe and other regions in the world. Four European experts present the European partnership approach and four experts from Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
On 18 October from 6.15 to 8.15 pm, EUKN will support the Fábrica Ciudad event called "Co-creation in practice, an interregional debate" organized by Pakhuis de Zwijger. During this event, discussants will explore what "meaningful participation" in implementing the New Urban Agenda actually means. How does it work in practice? What are inspiring examples? Policy-makers and city-makers will exchange concrete practices in various countries, in different regions in the world. More information on the Fábrica Ciudad can be found here.
On 20 October from 12 to 1.30 pm, EUKN will be present at the Dutch Pavilion to support an event on the Pact of Amsterdam.
General information about Habitat III and all side events can be found on the official website www.habitat3.org.
