EUKN Seminar on Urban Poverty
On 27 September 2016, the EUKN will organize a seminar on Urban Poverty in Athens, Greece, as part of the Urban Poverty Partnership that has been established in the Urban Agenda for the EU.
Urban poverty, including its area-specific (deprived neighbourhoods) and people-based (including child poverty) aspects, is one of the priority themes of the Urban Agenda for the EU as part of the Pact of Amsterdam. The Partnerships are, by their very nature, limited in size. This Seminar proposes to bring in a wider range of urban actors to discuss the scoping paper's outline of the partnership with representatives from NGOs, civil society, the private sector and researchers interested in urban poverty. By discussing the scoping paper's outline with representatives from NGOs, civil society, the private sector and researchers dealing with urban poverty, the seminar will generate expert input for the Partnership's Action Plan.
The interactive seminar will bring together experts with knowledge on aspects of urban poverty in specific neighborhoods and in relation to specific groups in society. It is a free, invitation-only event with English as the working language. The draft program of the seminar can be retrieved here (pdf) .
If you are involved with urban poverty within a NGOs, civil society, the private sector or as a researcher, this would be an opportunity to join the discussion and provide input for the Action Plan of the partnership on Urban Poverty. We invite you to take part in the Seminar. If you are interested, please send an email with your details to EUKNSeminarPoverty@eukn.eu and we will send you more practical information and content with regards to the event.
