European Week of Regions and Cities


Coming October, the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) organizes the Brussels Week of Regions and Cities, formerly known as the Brussels Open Days. The event will last a full week, from 10-13 October, 2016. The annual Brussels-based four-day event features officials from regions and cities' administrations, as well as experts and academics to exchange good practices and know-how. field of regional and urban development. It is also an acknowledged platform for political communication in relation to the development of EU Cohesion Policy, raising the awareness of decision-makers about the fact that regions and cities matter in EU policy-making.

The Week of Regions and Cities is one of the biggest urban events of the year, with over 6000 participants and 600 speakers from all over Europe and beyond, who will gather in Brussels for a program or about 100 workshops, debates, exhibitions and networking events. on regional and local development. The organizers adapt the program every year to the specific context of the EU agenda.
