Gardened cities and citizens' initiative, 11th-12th October 2012, Strasbourg
The conference will focus on the contribution of citizens' initiatives and local authorities in building a more "gardened" and more "human" city.
Organized by the city of Strasbourg, the French association of directors of gardens and public green spaces (AFDJEVP), the network of the garden in all its forms (JTSE) with their correspondent regional ECO-Conseil, and the CNFPT, the two days will focus on making an inventory of urban gardening initiatives undertaken by local authorities, groups of residents, or social landlords: shared gardens, public vegetable gardens, family gardens for social development in the neighbourhoods, microplantations, etc.
The conference will combine interventions major French and international witnesses, as well as scientists providing their insights on the shared gardens movement. Strasbourg gardens' visits and participatory thematic workshops will punctuate the event. A declaration the universal rights of the gardened city will conclude the confere.
