Neighbourhoods and health in urban areas: perspectives on the local dimension of health facts in Northern and Southern cities, 27th September 2012, Paris (France)

Coorganized by Pôle Suds (Ined) and the International College of Territorial Sciences (CIST), will examine the use of the notion of "neighbourhoods" as well as local approaches in work on health.

By crossing works that deal with diverse urban settings in both Northern and Southern countries, and involving researchers from different disciplines, this day aims to look at neighbourhood effects on the well being of populations, their health and health care seeking.

Five panel discussions will be organized:

  • The neighbourhood, an at-risk area
  • The neighbourhood, a political area
  • The neighbourhood, an area of social resources
  • The neighbourhood, an area of services
  • Neighbourhood and living areas
