CITIES Forum 2020
30-31 January, Porto
The “CITIES Forum 2020 – "together we shape a sustainable urban future" will take place on 30-31 January 2020 in Porto and it is organised by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, and the City of Porto. The event will represent a platform for key stakeholders to share opinions regarding future directions of urban development within Cohesion Policy.
The two days event will cover a broad range of activities such as:
- two panel discussions on “how will the European Urban Initiative support cities” and “Shaping the future of sustainable urban development including the Urban Agenda for the EU”;
- workshops showcasing best practices and solutions;
- a CityLab exploring how cities understand and implement the concept of balanced territorial development, one of the key principles of the new Leipzig Charter;
- an exhibition space where information can be gathered around relevant urban initiatives and programmes.
Throughout the Forum the debate about the new Leipzig Charter, the European Urban Initiative and the future of the Urban Agenda for the EU will play a prominent role. The forum will be the occasion to discover the outcome of the assessment study on the Urban Agenda for the EU and it will provide space to the Partnerships to capitalise on their achievements.
The EUKN, deeply active and engaged in these debates, will be present to share its expertise during the event. On 29 January, the EUKN Director Mart Grisel will take part in the CityLab organised by URBACT and EUROCITIES focusing on the principles of the new Leipzig Charter.
