EUKN Presentation at the Technical Conference on Functional Areas, Bucharest, 30 May 2017

On 30 May 2017, the EUKN made a presentation on Functional Urban Areas at the Technical Conference preparing the 2017 CEMAT conference.

On 30 May, Mart Grisel, Director of the EUKN, was invited to speak at the Technical Conference on Functional Areas that was held in Bucharest, Romania. The event prepared for the 2017 Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Spatial/Regional Planning (CEMAT). The CEMAT conference itself brings together representatives of the 47 Member States of the Council of Europe, pursuing a common objective: sustainable spatial development of the European continent.

The Technical Conference featured presentations and panel discussions gathering, among others, representatives of ESPON, the World Bank, Cyprus, Switzerland, the EU Danube Region Strategy, ITI Danube Delta and the University of Architecture and Urban Planning “Ion Mincu”. Mart Grisel, Director of the EUKN, presented the key governance challenges arising from functional urban areas in Europe.
