EUKN side event in Quito: Bridging the EU Urban Agenda with the New Urban Agenda

During the Habitat III Conference that is taking place from 17-20 October 2016 in Quito, city leaders from European cities met on 17 October to discuss how the Urban Agenda for the EU can support the New Urban Agenda. This New Urban Agenda consists of more global commitments to sustainable urban developments.

During this event, which was organised by EUROCITIES and the EUKN,  Anna Lisa Boni, EUROCITIES secretary general, stated that new models of urban governance are emerging. By linking EU agendas to global agendas these results could even be scaled up.

EUROCITIES’ press release describes her statements in more depth.

One of the main conclusions of the event was that an interregional platform could be formed to discuss the details of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.

Cities Today also reported about the event on their website.
